Mumbwa GMA in the Western Province, is the Prime Kafue Region, bordering the Kafue river and the Kafue National Park; it is renowned for excellent Lion and Leopard as well as the finest Sable trophies – Mumbwa West still holds No1 position on SCI record book for Sable – each year we harvest very impressive trophies. The Crawshays Defassa Waterbuck is indigenous to the Kafue Basin. Other quality trophies in this area are Baboon, Chobe Bushbuck, Bushpig, Crocodile, Grysbuck, Lichtenstein Hartebeest, Hippo, Hyean, Impala, Greater Kudu, Oribi, Puku, Warthog and Zebra. There are also excellent Buffalo, although not in large numbers.
Luangwa Valley has excellent Lion, Leopard, and great quality Buffalo; also available are Crocodile, Hippo, Puku, Cookson’s Wildebeest (indigenous to Luangwa valley) Baboon, Chobe Bushbuck, Common Duiker, Hyena, Impala, Southern Greater Kudu, Warthog, Sharpe’s Grysbuck, Common Waterbuck, Bushpig and Zebra. Late season Elephant hunts have produced some good tuskers. This, in the North-East of the Nyampala Concession at the foothills of the Muchinga Escarpment, where in late season the only water source is the Mutinondo river. This is a tough hunt in extreme heat and reserved for the hardy hunters.
Kafue region
Excellent Lion and Leopard, good Buffalo, Baboon, Chobe Bushbuck, Bushpig, Southern Bush Duiker, Livingstone’s Eland (Limited Availability), Sharpe’s Grysbuck, Lichtenstein’s Hartebeest, Hippo, Hyeana, Southern Impala, Southern Greater Kudu, Oribi, Puku, Southern Reedbuck, Southern Roan (Limited Availability), Sable, Warthog, Crawshay’s Defassa Waterbuck, Zebra and Crocadile. (Kafue flats Lechwe can also be added to this safari).
The Kafue region is renowned for its excellentLion and Leopard along with some of the finest Sable trophies produced in Africa. Many indiginious species are also found in the Kafue Concessions that are not found in many if not any other areas n Africa.
Luangwa valley
Excellent Lion, good Leopard and excellent Buffalo, Hippo, Crocodile, Puku, Cookson’s Wildebeest, Baboon, Chobe Bushbuck, Southern Bush Duiker, Hyeane, Southern Impala, Southern Greater Kudu, Warthog, Sharpe’s Grysbuck, Common Waterbuck, Bushpig and Zebra.
The Luangwa Valley is a premier destination for top class Lion, good Leopard and excellent Buffalo and abundant overall plainsgame populations.
bangweulu / Kafue flats
Zambezi Sitatunga, Black Lechwe, Kafue Flats Lechwe, Tsesseby, Oribi, Blue Duiker and Southern Reedbuck.
The Bangweulu Swamps is the only destination available for the Black Lechwe and the Zambezi Sitatunga, as the Kafue Flats is the only area where the Kafue Flats Lechwe is found.
